What can I put in the dumpster?

Generally accepted:

Keep these out/ Ask first:

Have something on the prohibited list? Ask us. Trash & Stash can handle many specialty items—including refrigerators, electronics and other regulated materials—separately from the dumpster rental.

Because our dumpsters have a maximum loaded weight of 2.5 tons (5,000 lbs.), some dense and oversized materials cannot be placed in the container.

Do not load: dirt or soil, rock or gravel, concrete, brick or other masonry, logs 8 inches or greater in diameter, whole trees, hazardous materials, paint, chemicals, oils, batteries, tires, electronics, or appliances containing refrigerants.

Important: The dumpster may not exceed 2.5 tons total loaded weight, regardless of the type of material.

Want to keep materials out of the landfill? Recycling and landfill diversion may be available when materials are separated by type. Mixed dumpster loads generally cannot be sorted after pickup. Ask us about the best way to separate recyclable or reusable materials for your project.

Dumpster rental FAQs

Our standard 18-yard dumpster rental is $425 and includes delivery, pickup, up to 3 days of use, and 1 ton (2,000 lbs.) of disposal. Additional disposal weight is billed at $85 per ton.

Your standard rental includes up to 3 days on site. Need more time? Additional days are $35 per day, subject to availability.

Planning a longer project? Ask us about weekly or monthly rental rates.

Your rental includes 1 ton (2,000 lbs.) of disposal. Additional weight is billed at $85 per ton. For safety and equipment limitations, the dumpster’s total loaded weight may not exceed 2.5 tons (5,000 lbs.).

Materials must also remain within the walls of the dumpster and cannot extend above the top or hang over the sides.

Our dumpsters can handle most common household, commercial and light renovation debris, including furniture, household goods, boxes, general trash, office and retail contents, light construction debris and many non-hazardous materials.

We also accept yard debris including branches, grass clippings and light tree trunks under 8 inches in diameter.

We do not accept dirt or soil, rock or gravel, concrete, brick or other masonry, logs 8 inches or greater in diameter, whole trees, hazardous materials, paint, chemicals, solvents, oils, batteries, tires, electronics, or appliances containing refrigerants.

Have something you’re unsure about? Contact us before loading it. In many cases, Trash & Stash can still help you dispose of prohibited dumpster items separately.

Yes, for light construction and renovation debris that stays within the dumpster’s weight limitations. Because materials such as concrete, brick, masonry, dirt and rock become extremely heavy very quickly, they are not permitted.

If you’re planning a renovation, tell us what you’re removing and we can help determine whether the dumpster is appropriate for your project.

Yes. We accept common yard debris such as branches, grass clippings and light tree trunks under 8 inches in diameter.

We do not accept whole trees, large logs 8 inches or greater in diameter, dirt, rock or other exceptionally heavy landscaping materials.

Our 18-yard roll-off is approximately 14 feet long and 6 feet high. It offers substantial capacity while maintaining a relatively compact footprint for driveways, businesses and job sites.

The rear doors open to make it easier to walk larger or heavier items into the container rather than lifting everything over the sides.

The dumpster must be placed on a firm, level and accessible surface with enough room for our truck and roll-off equipment to safely deliver and retrieve it.

Driveways and paved commercial areas are generally ideal. Placement is subject to our driver’s determination that the location can be safely accessed without unreasonable risk to people, property or equipment.

Our team takes reasonable care when placing and retrieving dumpsters, but roll-off containers are heavy—especially when loaded. We cannot guarantee that placement will not cause damage to asphalt, concrete, pavers or other surfaces.

If you have concerns about a particular surface, let us know before delivery so we can discuss placement options.

Usually, no. As long as we have clear placement instructions, safe access and any necessary authorization, we can typically deliver and retrieve the dumpster without you being present.

For pickup, the dumpster must be accessible and free of vehicles or other obstructions.

The $425 rental fee is paid in full before delivery, along with a $300 refundable deposit held to cover additional weight, extra rental days, prohibited materials, damage, or other applicable overage charges.

After pickup and final disposal weight are confirmed, any applicable charges will be deducted from the deposit and the remaining balance will be refunded.

Credit or debit card payment is required. ACH payments are not accepted for dumpster rentals.

No problem, provided the dumpster remains within its 2.5-ton maximum loaded weight. Disposal above the included 1 ton is billed at $85 per additional ton, based on the actual disposal weight.

We can perform a swap-out: we’ll pick up the full dumpster and return an empty container so you can keep working. Swap-outs are billed as an additional standard dumpster service.

Contact us as soon as you know you’ll need a swap so we can coordinate availability.

Yes. Trash & Stash also provides full-service junk removal and cleanout services. If you’d rather have our team do the lifting, loading and hauling, ask us about adding labor or using our full-service removal option instead.

Ask us. Some materials that cannot be mixed into a dumpster load—such as electronics or certain appliances—may still be materials Trash & Stash can handle separately through our full-service removal and specialty disposal channels.

A permit generally isn’t needed when a dumpster is placed entirely on private property, but requirements can vary by municipality and placement location. Dumpsters placed on streets, sidewalks or other public rights-of-way may require permission or a permit.

The customer is responsible for obtaining any required permits or property authorization before delivery.

Contact Trash & Stash when you’re finished, and we’ll arrange retrieval. Please make sure the dumpster is accessible, prohibited materials have not been loaded, and nothing extends above the container or over its sides.
